Volunteer Luncheon Celebrates 15 & 20 Years of Service

New Island Hospital held a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in celebration of National Volunteer Week. Volunteers at New Island contribute 25,000 hours a year in time and talent. They assist the staff in every area of the hospital. Volunteers do community outreach such as helping with the Monthly Health Education Lectures, Health Expos, and the flu & Pneumonia vaccines.

This luncheon celebrated 20 years of service for Marie Iannone and fifteen years of service for Dolores Baur.  There were many five years pins given out and a special thank you & certificate to all the dedicated volunteers who work so diligently to help the patients and staff at New Island Hospital.

The hospital's next volunteer orientation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Staff Room. The orientation is for the teen summer volunteer program and the adult (over 18) program. If you are interested in joining our volunteer department for the summer or long term, please call Human Resources at 516.520.2225 for applications and information.
