Elizabeth DehlerAfter suffering a pain in my lower abdomen for 24 hours, I decided it was time to go to the Emergency Room at New Island Hospital. I arrived in the morning and was in surgery for appendicitis by late afternoon.Everyone that encountered that day from Dr. Trope and nurse Lorraine in the E.R. to the sonogram and CT Scan personell, to the operating room staff and finally the staff on the floor was wonderful! I cannot say enough about the levels of professionalism and the compassion that I received. As a resident of Wantagh, I am very aware that New Island is our only community hospital that we have left and I am happy to say that I don't worry about that anymore.
